Many people are wondering how the Hoover vacuum carpet cleaner was invented. It is not possible that Hoover carpet cleaner just popped out of nowhere so someone has to be behind the creation of this machine. It was in 1907 when Murray Spangler got the idea of creating a “suction sweeper”, a device that is capable of pulling dust away from him as he swept. Spangler was suffering from asthma and he believed that the carpet sweeper that he was using was the source of his ailment. Murray Spangler’s “suction sweeper” was composed of a pillow, tin box, fan and broom handle.
Murray Spangler became very excited about his creation so he looked for someone who could help him in putting the device into production. Spangler found this “someone” in the person of W.H. Hoover who was in the business of manufacturing leather items during that time. Hoover saw the potential of Spangler’s invention. The two men then worked side by side in making “carpet vacuum cleaners” in a corner of the shop owned by Hoover.
Between Hoover and Spangler, it was Hoover who had a good business sense. As a means to sell the vacuum cleaners that they created, Hoover entered into an agreement with managers of different highly regarded stores to allow him to place vacuum cleaners in the stores. As part of the agreement, the different stores will earn commissions on the sale of vacuum cleaners. This worked well for Hoover and for the different stores which became agents in selling Hoover vacuum cleaners.
A century after Spangler created “suction sweeper” which became the inspiration in making Hoover vacuum cleaners, the Hoover Company is still selling vacuum cleaners in the market but the cleaners that are sold today been upgraded and modified to meet the growing needs of users. An example is the shark steam cleaner. The Hoover cleaners are distributed and put on sale in the same way as before. Today, the Hoover Company is considered as one of the leading manufacturers of carpet cleaners. One of the company’s main products is Hoover SteamVac F5914-900 which is popularly used because of its low cost and effectiveness in cleaning carpets.
