The benefits of using a TV ceiling mount greatly apply to LCD television sets. Ceiling mounts grant homeowners with the ability to pivot and swivel their television set in various directions to ensure optimum viewing quality wherever he or she may sit. This greatly reduces the visual stress associated with light glare and other unfavorable viewing situations, which could include poorly positioned furniture that creates a distraction away from the television set. The installation of a LCD TV ceiling mount isn’t much different than the process of a typical wall mounted television set, but the homeowner will find him or herself doing much of the work on a ladder to access higher ceiling beams.
Before beginning the installation and handling electrical components, it is always wise to ensure that the supply of electricity has been suspended within the room that the homeowner is working in. This can be done by visiting the household’s fuse or electrical supply box and moving the room’s switch into the “off” position. This will restrict the flow of electricity so that sensitive electrical components do not adversely affect the homeowner. If the homeowner is particularly worried about electrical damage, then the household’s master switched should be moved to an “off” position. Even with suspended electricity, it is also wise to wear personal protective equipment that will lessen the impact of sudden surges of electricity to a homeowner. When there is doubt or concern, resorting to a LCD TV wall mount bracket or a plasma TV wall mount bracket could be a safer and even easier solution.
1. Stud finder
The homeowner should begin the installation procedure by erecting a ladder where he or she feels the most ideal spot is for a TV ceiling mount. After this has been done, then the ceiling’s studs should be located by using an electronic stud finder. This device will detect the studs within the ceiling beams with an audible beep. Homeowners should casually mark these locations with a pencil as and when they are located to make the installation process a lot easier and less troublesome.
2. Ceiling mount screw
If the ceiling mount is delivered in a pre installed kit, then the middle screw of the unit should be removed to detach the removable arm. This step is crucial as skipping it will make it much harder to securely install the television to the ceiling mount; unless it is a small screen that does not require significant amounts of strength to hold it securely while the homeowner unfastens and refastens screws while installing the ceiling mount.
3. Lag bolts
The mounting plate should now be held over the outlined ceiling beam and lined up accordingly with the pencil markings that were made in the first step. Most ceiling mount systems provide the consumer with lag bolts, so the homeowner should feed these through the mounting holes of the ceiling mount’s mounting plate and align them with the pencil markings that determined where the ceiling beam was located. The lag bolts should be secured into the beam by using a ratchet or other form of compatible wrench.
4. VESA
The connecting arm of the ceiling mount should be held flush against the back of the television. Here, a series of VESA holes should align themselves with the connecting arm. Once the holes are flush with the connecting arm, then the VESA screws should be fed through the connecting arm and screwed into the television set. This will secure the television on to the connecting arm of the ceiling mount.
5. Connect to ceiling mount
When the television is secured on to the connecting arm, then it should be held overhead and the joining holes should be aligned with the ceiling mount. The remaining connecting screws should be fed through these holes, which will suspend the television with the ceiling mount. Once this is complete, then it is up to the homeowner to best decide how to angle the television set using the TV ceiling mount. A few general guidelines for positioning the television set include pivoting the set away from direct sources of light that can create a surface with glare and move any pieces of tall furniture or objects that interfere with a direct line of sight between the homeowner’s seating area and the television set. It is also wise to clean the television set using a LCD or plasma compatible cleaning kit as dust and debris might have settled on the viewing screen during the installation process.
